Trevor James for the MFR Local Music Award 2008 Born Trevor James Mair on the 26 May 1972. Trevor was raised in the little seaside town of Cullen, Moray in Scotland. Cullen was made famous for its famous soup Cullen Skink. Trevor James, as he is now known, attended Cullen Primary School & later went on to Buckie High School. After leaving school Trevor picked up the trade of panel Beating and Paint Spraying and his first job was at Buckie Body Shop. This job lasted for many years but the temptation to entertain was boiling up in him. He had his first taster of entertaining when he did his first public performance in the early 1990's on board a ferry between Dover and France, in front of a group of christian friends, and that was him hooked. Singing songs in public eventually became his sole profession. |

After
returning, he joined up with local band Sunset. He perform a half hour
set at each of their gigs and this lasted a year. He moved on to join
a band in Birmingham called The Stargazers and then moved on to developing
his solo Elvis Tribute set. The popularity of this show was beyond belief
for Trevor James and he found himself working 3 gigs in one night in some
cases. Trevor James returned to Moray and team up with a visiting American aviator, Lt Dave Platt, who was based at Lossiemouth, and they formed the core of what was to become a seven piece band called American Trilogy. The emphasis being on performing Elvis songs. |

Having
had many different jobs, it wasn't till late 1999 that he considered going
full time as a solo vocalist. He has never looked back on this decision
and still enjoys it as much as the day he first started singing in public. |

Trevor
James moved away from the Elvis show and went onto being a successful
country singer performing songs made famous by the likes of Johnny Cash,
Charley Pride, Charlie Rich, George Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings,
Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson. |

The country show consists of good ole country songs such as Crystal Chandeliers,
Behind Closed Doors, Sunday Morning Coming Down, Good Time Charlie's Got
The Blues, Good Old Boys and Swinging Doors. |

From
humble beginnings in the Scottish coastal town of Cullen, Trevor James
has steadily increased his following and today is popular throughout the
UK. His style of traditional country blended with his gospel roots and
the influence of Elvis on his career, gives his music a unique style that
offers something for everyone. |
